Oι νικητές των Video Game Awards 2012

Όπως κάθε χρόνο, έτσι και στα φετινά Video Game Awards το κυρίως πιάτο φάνηκε να είναι οι διάφορες «πρεμιέρες» πολυαναμενόμενων τίτλων, παρά τα ίδια τα βραβεία, αρκετά εκ των οποίων απονεμήθηκαν στο preshow. Παρόλα αυτά, οι νικητές των δύο βασικών βραβείων, για το παιχνίδι της χρονιάς και το παιχνίδι της δεκαετίας, προκαλούν πολλές συζητήσεις. 

Κορυφαίο παιχνίδι της χρονιάς στα Video Game Awards 2012 αναδείχθηκε το The Walking Dead της Telltale, η οποία μάλιστα κέρδισε και το βραβείο του στούντιο της χρονιάς. Εξάλλου, με αφορμή τα 10 χρόνια διοργάνωσης των Video Game Awards, φέτος υπήρχε και ένα ξεχωριστό βραβείο για το κορυφαίο παιχνίδι της δεκαετίας, το οποίο κέρδισε το -πολύ καλό αλλά απίστευτα υπερτιμημένο- Half-Life 2.
